Our beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes are tailored specifically for younger and older adults.  If you missed the chance to dance earlier in life, now is the perfect time to start. If you are returning to dance, Soft Pointe will gently guide you back. Regardless of your age or experience, there's a place for you to move, grow, and reconnect with the joy of ballet and dance.

Fitness Classes:
Barre, Stretch, Pilates

Pilates, Barre, and Stretch classes are essential for ballet dancers as they support strength, flexibility, and injury prevention—all key components of a healthy dance practice. At Soft Pointe, we offer both in-studio as well as online classes.

In-studio classes help dancers build core stability, improve posture and alignment, and enhance muscle control under Roxanne's guidance, which directly translates to better balance, turnout, and overall technique.

The convenience of online classes allow dancers to maintain their conditioning consistently, even outside the studio, making it easier to stay strong, supple, and performance-ready.

Experience personalised ballet dance coaching designed just for you. Roxanne’s one-on-one sessions offer focused support in technique, artistry, and physical conditioning, whether you're returning to dance, building confidence, or working toward specific goals. Each lesson is tailored to suit your pace, needs, and aspirations.

About Roxanne

Roxanne Lategan's love for music and movement began at a young age. Growing up in an area without formal dance schools, she began her official dance training at the age of 12, where she was first introduced to modern, hip hop, and ballet. Her passion quickly evolved into a commitment to modern dance, participating in school productions, Cape Town Eisteddfod competitions, and completing examinations through the Association of International Dance Teachers (AIDT).

After completing high school, Roxanne took a gap year to explore her career options and accepted a part-time teaching role at Fred Astaire Dance Studios. There, she was introduced to Ballroom and Latin dancing, continuing her exploration of diverse dance styles while developing her teaching skills.

Driven by a passion for movement and the mechanics of the human body, Roxanne pursued a degree in physiotherapy. While at university, she rekindled her connection with ballet and modern dance, becoming a certified AIDT teacher in 2013. In 2014, she relocated to the Eastern Cape to complete her physiotherapy degree and founded an after-school dance program in Mthatha, offering classes to both children and adults. This experience provided invaluable lessons in teaching, choreography, school management, and event coordination.

Upon returning to Cape Town, Roxanne balanced part-time teaching with continued studies in both physiotherapy and dance. From 2016 to 2023, she was a key staff member of DanceCraft Studio, where she taught Ballroom, ballet, modern, and fitness classes including barre and Pilates. During this time, she competed in Ballroom dance with her partner, achieving multiple first-place rankings in the Latin division under the Federation of Dance Sport (FEDANSA). In 2017, she performed on KykNet’s Dans in jou Taal, reaching the quarter-finals with her group.

In addition to teaching, Roxanne played an integral role in the management of DanceCraft Studio. She oversaw the ballet and modern departments, choreographed wedding dances, organized performances, and eventually stepped into a general management role.

Her deepening passion for ballet led her to pursue advanced studies with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), culminating in the completion of the Advanced Level 1 in 2022.

Since 2024, Roxanne has run her own dance school, focusing on adult learners who share her love for dance, and who started their dance journeys a little later in life. She firmly believes that dance is a universal language accessible to everyone, regardless of age or background.

Adele

"After 40 years away from ballet, I finally returned to a childhood dream I never stopped holding in my heart. I was nervous, unsure if I could move the way I used to or even remember how ballet felt. Then I found Roxanne.
Roxanne is more than just a teacher — she is an inspiration. Her patience, grace, and quiet encouragement created a space where I felt safe to try, to stumble, and to grow. She understood exactly where I was coming from and gently guided me back into the world of ballet with kindness and wisdom.
Every class with her rekindles my joy for dance. Her deep knowledge and warm presence have made this journey not only possible but profoundly meaningful. Thanks to Roxanne, I’ve rediscovered a part of myself I thought was long gone — and for that, I am endlessly grateful."
